The Civic Museum
With
the arrival of the spring 1997, the civic museum "Nòssi Ràis"
(Our Roots) opened. Conceived and animated by Giuseppe Dorma (Gep dal bosc),
"Nòssi Ràis" is placed inside the native house
of the famous Sangiorgese Carlo Botta. Here numerous things take place
which allow you to discover some aspects of past Canavesan civilization.
So, it is possible to find both the blacksmith shop and numerous tools
for farming,
the
rural domestic surroundings and a school room from the early 1900’s, the
wine-presses and vats which represent the wine-making and viticultural
tradition of Canavese, a large collection of little things once used both
at home and work, and many other elements which allow the visitor to cover
a period of several centuries. Inside this large collection is inserted
one more little monographic collection, dedicated to life and works of
someone who made San Giorgio as the "Athens of Canavese".

Among the Sangiorgese curiosities, they have pointed out the bicycle collection
of Bernardino Milano (Dino Milan). Included are some historical and peculiar
bicycles, and some undoubtedly "eccentric" ones, created by this
inspired artisan.
