Reading starting point

For anyone who wants to know the rich history of San Giorgio, the main datum-book is "San Giorgio, biografia di un paese" (San Giorgio, biography of a village), written by Vittorio Della Croce and published by the Town Council.

To have a look at some images of life in the beginning of the century, in these lands which lie at the foot of the mountains, consult "San Giorgio e la sua gente" (San Giorgio and its people), published by "Pro Loco" (the main local tourist association).

To have some curious starting point about San Giorgio and Canavese, such as naturalistic and cultural itineraries, consult "San Giòrs" (San Giorgio), the seasonal publication of Pro Loco.

Among the many others publications dedicated to San Giorgio, "La Merdeide" (untranslatable title!) deserves a particular notice, by the abbot Angelo Pennoncelli (1750-1820), re-issued by Pro Loco. This work, perhaps written as a token of contempt towards people who let themselves be influenced by the promises of Napoleon's regime (and whose theme clearly appears from the title, based on a pun concerning human...feces!), shows the subtle humor and the stylistics skill of its author.

At last, whoever is looking for an imaginative souvenir of San Giorgio, will find the picturesque photo-poster which reproduce a foreshortening of the village.
